Study of De la Tour

This project proposes an experience where the real and the virtual coexist through a reinterpretation of The Birth by Georges de La Tour. On the wooden panel, only part of the painting has been reproduced, deliberately omitting the mother and child, thus inviting the viewer to interact with a generative AI to recreate these figures according to their own imagination and deliver their own interpretation of the mystery of birth.

An Internet outage disrupted the experience, and the expected image was replaced by a simple error message. This setback becomes an element of the work, a manifestation of the intangible dimension of the immaterial. Can we wonder if the elusive, almost magical, character of the virtual in certain aspects does not echo the mysterious dimension of birth in La Tour's work?

This project offers an experience where the real and virtual intertwine, reimagining *The Birth* by Georges de La Tour. On the wooden panel, only a fragment of the painting is reproduced, intentionally leaving out the mother and child. This omission invites the viewer to engage with generative AI, reimagining these figures through their own creativity and interpreting the mystery of birth in a deeply personal way.

An unexpected Internet outage disrupted the experience, replacing the anticipated image with a simple error message. This unplanned interruption becomes part of the artwork, highlighting the intangible nature of the immaterial. Might this fleeting, almost ethereal quality of the virtual, echo the enigmatic essence of birth that La Tour's work so profoundly captures?
